String Trios - Schubert and Mozart

Philip Higham, cello

Jessica Beeston, viola

Sadie Fields, violin

The string trio strips chamber music to its most intimate essence: three voices in close, searching dialogue, and each one indispensable. For this concert, three exceptional musicians bring us two of the greatest works ever written for the form. Mozart's glorious Divertimento in E-flat major K. 563 is an expansive work of irresistible wit and tenderness, and Schubert's String Trio in B-flat major D. 471, a single, radiant Allegro movement from an unfinished work, brief but captivating - a window into Schubert's lyrical genius at its most unguarded.
